Fat America, Poisoned.

Monosodium Glutamate

Injected into lab rats to make them obese, because MSG triples the insulin produced by the pancreas.

Food manufacturers who support the use of MSG say that they use it to make people eat more.

MSG manufacturers say that it makes someone choose the product containing MSG over the one without.

They are making us addicted intentionally, to make more money!
Check your labels for these words- Autolyzed Yeast, or Plant protein
Calcium caseinate
Corn oil
Hydrolyzed
Hydrolyzed vegetable protien
Plant protein extract
Sodium caseinate
Textured protein (TVP)

These are just a FEW of the words you should watch out for on you food labels.

Here is a great link to a site that lists foods containing MSG, you will be surprised.

Be educated about what you eat, it's the only way to be healthy!

Kentucky Fried Chicken?

So El Pollo Loco has brought it to our attention that KFC is using "Rendered beef fat" in their new grilled chicken recipe. Just goes to show you that you never know what you're going to get!

Here's a list of ingredients~

KFC Grilled Chicken is made of chicken, salt, sodium phosphate, MSG, maltodextrin, bleached wheat flower, partially hydrogenated soybean and cottonseed oil, spices, palm oil, natural flavor (?), garlic powder, Soy sauce, chicken fat, chicken broth, autolyzed yeast, beef powder, rendered beef fat, extractives of tumeric, dehydrated carrot, onion powder, calcium silicate, silicon dioxide.

By the way "Natural flavor" can be a lot of things!
Here is one example -natural flavor is produced in laboratories to give flavor to processed foods that lose almost all flavor through the processes of freezing, dehydrating, and canning. It is made from infinitesimal amounts of chemicals, or more so a collection of gases.

Even if you are not a vegetarian, you should still care about what you eat. Keep it as natural (truly natural) as possible. Avoid chemicals. Food should not be poisonous.

Hello, My name is Nicole. I have three wonderful children. I choose to live vegan about a year and a half ago, after watching slaughterhouse videos on the internet. It has been the best thing I could have ever done, for my health, my children's, as well as the animals. I have broadened my horizons with the foods I, otherwise would have never known about, or would have just written them off with out giving them a chance.

It has been a process of change and learning. I am always learning new things about the benefits of the vegan diet.

At first it was kind of hard, it was trying to figure out what the heck we were going to eat! Shopping was frustrating, checking every label, putting them back ~ugh, eggs, dairy! But it has definitely gotten much easier. Eating has never been so enjoyable for me as it is now! I feel really good about the foods my kids eat. I think that starting them off loving fruits and vegetables, will last forever.

In this blog I will post as often as possible. I will write about new things I learn, challenges I encounter, and my day to day goings on!
